The TokenTV connects before the TV and controls the signal. It uses state of the art electronics. There is a tiny battery powered computer inside that controls its operations. Each token allows for 35 minutes of viewing time. Tokens can be added for longer viewing times. A blinking light notifies the user when the time is almost up. It can also detect
tampering! It has a keyed access lock that also acts as a parental override switch for viewing without tokens. Installation: It hooks up in minutes to the coaxial cable connection on your TV. This connection is then secured with a tamper evident seal. Cable TV, video recorders or games then
connect to the cable connector on the timer. No programming! No tools or electric outlet needed. Customer Comments: "They work great! My six year old loves it and it saves us a lot of wrestling matches over the TV. Now she has control of when and we have control of how much!" J.W., Wis. "I can't believe how much parental bargaining power token TV gives me!" R.W., CO "We use token TV to regulate our own TV viewing - not just how much our kids watch. It's handy for those times when you are tempted to just sit and veg in front of the TV - but you really only want to see one special show. We also like that you can tape
any show you want without a token. That way you can plan when you want to watch TV, and watch only the shows you choose." Dr. and Mrs. Goral, WI "We originally got a token TV to regulate our kids TV viewing but found it really useful for ourselves. At night we put in a token, watch the news, then go to bed when the token runs out instead of staying up later than we wanted to watching bad TV." G.G., WI Professional Quotes: "Thirty years of research show that 90 percent of achievement is determined by how much TV a child watches, school attendance and how much reading is done at home." Richard Riley, U.S. Secretary of Education "Heavy television watching may well increase pessimism about human nature."
"Each hour spent viewing television is associated with less social trust and less group membership." Robert Putnam, Professor of Government, Harvard "Parental guidance is better than censorship." "The entire burden of responsibility still lies as it always has, with parents who are facing a rising tide of violence and sleaze on TV." Joan Beck, Columnist, Chicago Tribune "In general, kids pursue the path of least effort and what is most convenient, so if television is readily available, the majority of kids will spend too much time watching it. Parents need to control that access." "Ideally, a child earns television privileges by meeting prearranged sets of expectations, such as chores." Michael Cornal, School Psychologist, Co-director Family Achievement Center Madison & Milwaukee, WI. "Criticism of children's television usually focuses on the mayhem in programs. However, earlier research has shown that the more TV youngsters watch, the fatter they are and the higher their blood cholesterol levels." Daniel Q. Haney - AP Science Writer "Each increase of one hour per day of watching music videos brought a 31% greater
risk of starting to drink (alcohol) over the next 18 months." Dr. Thomas Robinson - Stanford University. From a 18 month study of 2,609 ninth grade students in San Jose, CA. |
